Exercise and Dementia

Did you know that exercise has been shown through research to have many positive effects for clients living with dementia?

Regular exercise and physical activity can help improve things like coordination, balance, functional ability, cognition and create a better sense of wellbeing. It can also help improve sleep and reduce levels of agitation. Falls prevention also is a key focus for this client group, with studies showing that people with dementia are four to five times more likely to experience a fall compared with their peers.

In Early Onset Alzheimers Disease research has shown that regular exercise can help to slow progression of symptoms. At Future Physio we are able to see both self managed and plan managed NDIS clients.

Meet the team...

Simone is an Exercise Physiologist and the newest member of the Future Physio team. She graduated from Edith Cowan University in 2011 with a Bachelor in Exercise Science and Rehabilitation after completing her Masters in Strength and Conditioning and Bachelor in Sports Science.

She has been an Accredited Exercise Physiologist for the past 8 years and been involved in multiple aspects of the industry including pre-employment assessments, WA Work Cover claims, DVA, Medicare and NDIS clients and  running her own clinics in Melbourne for past 4 years.

Simone has experience in seeing clients with a multitude of conditions for exercise prescription including pre and post surgery rehab, chronic conditions such as osteoarthritis and osteoporosis, cardiovascular issues, diabetes and weight loss. She most enjoys helping clients achieve their fitness and life goals with proper exercise prescription and education.

Outside of work Simone enjoys trail and walking adventure with her partner and their dog, biking, yoga and Pilates. Summer is for Stand Up Paddling and winter for snowboarding.

Growing up in multiple countries during her life and a European household has given her a deep understanding of different cultures. She enjoys sharing stories with her clients and always finds something to laugh about.

At Future Physio we are service providers for self and plan managed NDIS participants.

We take the time to meet with you and discuss your goals before you decided whether we are the right fit for you or your family. Our friendly, experienced team will develop a service plan that meets the physiotherapy or exercise needs you have.
