Exercise and Dementia

Did you know that exercise has been shown through research to have many positive effects for clients living with dementia?

Regular exercise and physical activity can help improve things like coordination, balance, functional ability, cognition and create a better sense of wellbeing. It can also help improve sleep and reduce levels of agitation. Falls prevention also is a key focus for this client group, with studies showing that people with dementia are four to five times more likely to experience a fall compared with their peers.

In Early Onset Alzheimers Disease research has shown that regular exercise can help to slow progression of symptoms. At Future Physio we are able to see both self managed and plan managed NDIS clients.

Our team of highly experienced physiotherapists and exercise physiologists can work with you to build a regular exercise program that suits you or your family member’s current functional level.
