Exercise for Health

Exercise and fitness has benefits for almost health and disability conditions through out the lifespan such as childhood cognitive disorders including developmental delay, attention deficit hyperactivity discover (ADHD) through to acquired brain injury, anxiety and depression, early onset alzheimers and geriatric cognitive decline.

Harvard research has shown that regular exercise changes the brain and improves memory and thinking. Physiotherapists and Exercise Physiologists are trained to assess your specific needs and can develop a program that will incorporate the exercises that will best help you achieve your health goals.

We are a mobile service which means we come to you! All programs can be safely and effectively delivered in your own home, at the local park or in the pool.

We work with clients on all NDIS plans, Aged Care Packages, Chronic Diseases Management and Private clients. So whatever your situation call us today to kickstart your exercise program.

NDIS - Your plan, your goals

The NDIS has changed the landscape for accessing therapy in Australia. The system was set up to give users choice and control over how their funding is used. This enables you to have your choice of services and providers ensuring that you have the team around you that works best to support your goals.

If you are new to the NDIS or looking to make a change for the new year, contact the team at Future Physio to discuss your goals for therapy.

Our highly experience Physiotherapists and Exercise Physiologists see both self managed and plan managed clients throughout the disability spectrum. Our client group ranges from childhood disability (over 7 years) through to acquired neurological disorders including multiple sclerosis, Parkinsons and early onset dementia clients.

We are a mobile service meaning that we can meet you at your home, the gym or hydrotherapy pool to best deliver your program goals. Our small team means that we know each and every client and you see the same therapist for each session.

Our practice principal, Sarah Carney, is happy to sit down for a no obligation chat with you and your carers to discuss your plan and how you wish to use your therapy funding.

Exercise and Dementia

Did you know that exercise has been shown through research to have many positive effects for clients living with dementia?

Regular exercise and physical activity can help improve things like coordination, balance, functional ability, cognition and create a better sense of wellbeing. It can also help improve sleep and reduce levels of agitation. Falls prevention also is a key focus for this client group, with studies showing that people with dementia are four to five times more likely to experience a fall compared with their peers.

In Early Onset Alzheimers Disease research has shown that regular exercise can help to slow progression of symptoms. At Future Physio we are able to see both self managed and plan managed NDIS clients.

Our team of highly experienced physiotherapists and exercise physiologists can work with you to build a regular exercise program that suits you or your family member’s current functional level.
