The Life-Changing Benefits of Cardiac Rehabilitation at Home

Cardiac rehabilitation is one of the most effective ways to recover after a heart event, manage chronic heart conditions, and regain confidence in everyday life. Research consistently shows that cardiac rehab improves heart health, increases physical capacity, reduces hospital readmissions, and supports mental wellbeing. Just as importantly, it helps people feel safe and in control of their recovery.

For many older adults, cardiac rehabilitation can be done safely and effectively in the comfort of their own home. Home-based programs are individually tailored, closely monitored, and progress at a pace that suits the person—not the clinic timetable. Exercises are functional, practical, and designed around real-life activities such as walking, stairs, and daily tasks. This approach removes barriers like travel, fatigue, or mobility issues, making long-term participation far more achievable.

At Future Physio, Lucia is a specialist in home-based cardiac rehabilitation. With extensive experience supporting people after heart surgery, heart attacks, and with ongoing cardiac conditions, Lucia combines evidence-based exercise prescription with careful monitoring and education. She works closely with clients and their medical teams to ensure programs are safe, effective, and confidence-building.

Cardiac rehabilitation isn’t just about the heart—it’s about helping people return to living well, independently, and safely at home. Call 0477 934 546 to start your cardiac rehabilitation journey today.

Meet Lucia – Exercise Physiologist

Lucia brings an exceptional blend of scientific expertise, clinical skill, and human connection to her work as an Accredited Exercise Physiologist. After completing a Bachelor of Science in Exercise, Sports and Rehabilitation Science at Curtin University in 2020, she went on to earn a Master of Clinical Exercise Physiology in 2021. Her path into health was uniquely shaped by her earlier studies in Mechanical Engineering and a PhD in Biomedical Engineering, giving her a deep understanding of how the body functions from both a clinical and biomechanical perspective.

Her professional experience spans aged care, orthopaedics, musculoskeletal injury, and cardiac rehabilitation. What Lucia enjoys most is uncovering what truly motivates her clients and designing personalised exercise programs that empower them to reach their goals with confidence.

Outside the clinic, Lucia is driven by the same passion she brings to her clients. She’s an avid ultramarathon runner, regularly participating in and volunteering at endurance events. When she’s not training, you’ll likely find her camping, hiking, or exploring new landscapes—most recently during a rejuvenating holiday across Europe.
